The M.A. FORD 2XDCR3750A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It carries a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch decimal) diameter, a 142-degree split point, and an ALtima AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) proprietary coating that extends tool life in high-heat cutting environments. Overall length is 4.0600 inches with a 2.1700-inch flute length, giving a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio. The straight cylindrical shank measures 25/64 inch (0.3906 inch decimal) in diameter. This bit features two regular spiral flutes with a right-hand cutting direction and supports coolant-through delivery, making it well suited for production environments where heat and chip evacuation are critical.
The 2XDCR3750A is built for cutting steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys — workpiece material codes H, M, and S. These are the material groups where solid carbide with AlTiN coating provides the greatest advantage over high-speed steel alternatives. Typical applications include precision hole-making in aerospace components, structural fabrication, and general machining of difficult-to-machine alloys. Maximum drilling depth is rated at 1.7400 inches. The drill is manufactured to DIN 6537 K dimensional standards and is produced under ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management processes. It is sold individually and packaged as a single unit.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turning centers equipped with collet or drill chuck toolholding rated for a 25/64 inch straight shank. Intended for cutting steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys per primary workpiece material codes H, M, and S. Belongs to the M.A. FORD Series 2XDCR product family.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the straight shank firmly in a matched collet or drill chuck before use — carbide bits are brittle and will fracture under lateral loading from a loose or worn holder. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and hole depth before beginning the cut. Enable coolant-through flow prior to drill engagement to prevent thermal shock to the carbide substrate.
