The M.A. FORD 2XDCR2638A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It measures 6.70 mm (0.2638 inches) in diameter with a 142-degree split point that reduces walking and minimizes thrust on entry. The ALtima AlTiN proprietary coating delivers elevated heat and wear resistance, making this drill well-suited for production environments where tool life and hole quality matter. Overall length is 91.00 mm (3.583 inches) with a flute length of 48.00 mm (1.890 inches). The straight cylindrical shank measures 8 mm (0.625 inches) in diameter. This is a tool installed by machinists and precision drilling professionals.
This drill is designed primarily for cutting steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides the chip clearance and rigidity needed when working harder, more abrasive workpiece materials. Coolant-through capability supports through-spindle coolant delivery, which helps manage heat in deep-hole and high-speed applications. The right-hand, regular spiral flute geometry supports consistent chip evacuation in typical CNC machining and manual drill press setups. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 38.00 mm (0.875 inches).
Designed for drilling steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. Compatible with CNC machining centers and drill presses accepting an 8 mm straight cylindrical shank. Fits M.A. FORD Series 2XDCR tooling configurations.
Install in a machine spindle or chuck rated for the shank diameter before engaging the workpiece. Ensure the spindle and coolant system are fully stopped before loading or removing the drill. Through-spindle coolant connections should be verified for compatibility with the machine tool prior to use. Solid carbide tools are brittle — avoid side loads, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed adjustments, and unsupported workpiece setups that can induce chatter or tool breakage.
