The M.A. FORD. 2XDCR2008A is a jobber length, solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding workpiece materials. Measuring 5.1 mm (0.2008 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 82 mm (3.2283 inches), this bit features a 142-degree drill point angle optimized for cutting through temperature alloys, stainless steels, and high-strength materials. The ALtima titanium nitride coating extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and surface wear. A right-hand spiral flute with a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and coolant-through capability supports efficient chip evacuation and heat management during deep-hole operations. Manufactured to DIN 6537 K standards and produced under ISO 9001:2015 certified processes.
This drill bit is suited for metalworking applications involving difficult-to-machine materials, including temperature alloys and stainless steels classified under workpiece material codes H, M, and S. The straight-cylindrical shank (6.00 mm diameter) fits standard drill chucks and collet holders used on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines. With a maximum drilling depth of 32 mm and a flute length of 40 mm (1.5748 inches), it is well matched for precision hole-making tasks in aerospace, medical, oil and gas, and general machining environments. Typical users include machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working in production or job-shop settings.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 6.00 mm shank. Suitable for drilling temperature alloys, stainless steels, and high-strength materials identified under workpiece material codes H, M, and S. Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 2XDCR drill line.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck are clean and free of runout before seating the shank to avoid premature tool breakage. Verify that coolant-through supply lines are connected and functional before beginning a drilling cycle, as interruption of coolant flow in hard materials can cause thermal shock and tool failure. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate when working with carbide drills in high-strength alloys.
