The M.A. FORD 2XDCL3150A is a taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from solid carbide and finished with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and resistance to wear. It features a 142-degree split point for accurate self-centering entry and reduced thrust, a 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio for deep-hole capability, and a right-hand spiral flute for efficient chip evacuation. The straight cylindrical shank provides secure chuck engagement. Internal coolant-through channels allow cutting fluid delivery directly to the cutting zone, reducing heat buildup and improving chip clearing in deeper bores.
This bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in cast iron, carbon steel, alloy steel, tool steel, and titanium. The 8 mm diameter and 56 mm maximum drilling depth make it a practical choice for tapped-hole prep, clearance drilling, and through-hole work on ferrous and non-ferrous components. It is used by machinists and toolroom technicians working with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where consistent hole tolerance is required. The tight diameter tolerance of +0.000 to -0.015 mm supports close-fit applications where hole quality is critical.
Designed for use in materials including cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, alloy steel, and tool steel. Compatible with CNC machining centers and standard drill equipment accepting an 8 mm straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and chuck are free of runout before seating the shank to avoid premature edge chipping. Always engage coolant-through fluid supply before drilling to protect the cutting edge and aid chip evacuation. Do not use this bit without proper workholding; unsecured workpieces can cause tool breakage and injury.
