The M.A. FORD 2XDCL2283A is a solid carbide taper length drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Measuring 5.8 mm in diameter (0.2283 decimal inch) with a 142-degree split point angle, this bit delivers accurate, self-centering entry with reduced thrust. The spiral flute geometry and right-hand cut produce clean chip evacuation, while the coated finish extends tool life in abrasive materials. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed operation in production environments. This bit is used by machinists, toolroom technicians, and precision fabricators working on tight-tolerance bore applications.
The 2XDCL2283A is rated for use in cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, steel, and tool steel. With a 7xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio, it is suited for deeper hole applications where a jobber-length bit would fall short. The 51 mm flute length and 100 mm overall length (OAL) make it appropriate for taper-length reach requirements in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where straight-shank tooling is specified. The 6.00 mm straight shank seats directly into standard collets and chucks without an adapter.

Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine fully powered down and locked out per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the straight shank fully and evenly in a collet or drill chuck rated for the shank diameter before tightening. Solid carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side-loading or using this bit to ream or enlarge existing holes outside its designed path. Verify coolant-through lines are clear and flowing at the correct pressure before initiating production runs.
