The M.A. FORD 2XDCL2244A is a taper length solid carbide drill bit from the 2XDCL series, designed for precision drilling in demanding production environments. It carries a 142-degree drill point angle and a TiN (titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life in abrasive materials. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 6 mm in diameter, and the overall length is 100 mm (approximately 3.94 inches). Coolant-through construction supports high-speed drilling by directing fluid directly to the cutting zone. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this tooling.
This drill bit is suited for drilling cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, alloy steel, and tool steel. The 7xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for moderate-depth holes in both prototype and production machining applications. With a flute length of 51 mm and a maximum drilling depth of 41 mm, it is typically run in CNC machining centers and drill presses where coolant delivery is available. The right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during through-hole and blind-hole operations.
The 2XDCL2244A is designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and other machine tool setups equipped with coolant-through toolholding systems and collets or chucks sized for a 6 mm straight shank. Material applications as specified include cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, steel, and tool steel.
Installation and setup should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians following established shop safety procedures. The machine spindle must be brought to a full stop before loading or removing the drill bit from the toolholder. Verify that collet size matches the 6 mm shank diameter before clamping, and confirm that the coolant-through circuit is properly connected and pressurized before initiating a cut. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material.
