The M.A. FORD. 2XDCL1360A is a taper length solid carbide drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Sized at wire gauge 29 (0.1360 inches decimal), it features a 142-degree split-point geometry that reduces walking and improves entry accuracy on hard materials. The straight shank measures 5/32 inches (0.1562 inches decimal) in diameter, and the overall length is 3.625 inches with a 1.75-inch spiral flute. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed machining operations where heat management is critical. This bit is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production or job-shop environments.
The 2XDCL1360A is suited for drilling cast iron, titanium, carbon steel, alloy steel, and tool steel. Its 7xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio and taper length body make it appropriate for applications requiring deeper reach than a jobber-length bit provides without stepping up to a full extended-length drill. Typical use cases include precision hole-making in machined components, tooling fixtures, and die work where tight diameter tolerances are required. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC and manual drill press setups.

Installation and operation of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the collet or chuck is clean and properly torqued before use, and confirm spindle runout is within acceptable limits to avoid premature carbide chipping. Coolant-through setups require the machine spindle to supply cutting fluid at adequate pressure through the tool centerline. Carbide tooling is brittle and should never be used for interrupted cuts or in setups with excessive vibration without verifying rigidity of the workholding and setup.
