The M.A. FORD. 27818700B is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding shop environments. With a 3/16 inch diameter, 5/16 inch length of cut, and 2 inch overall length, this single-end tool delivers precise material removal across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 5-flute, helical right-hand cutting geometry combined with a 40-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and improved surface finish. An AlCrN coating provides elevated heat and wear resistance, extending tool life under aggressive cutting conditions. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with CNC machining centers will find this end mill well-suited to finish and semi-finish passes.
This end mill fits residential and commercial machine shop applications where tight-tolerance profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling are required. The variable index flute spacing helps reduce chatter and harmonic vibration during cuts, making it effective in high-spindle-speed setups. The micrograin carbide substrate supports rigidity and edge retention, particularly in hardened steels, stainless, and similar difficult-to-machine alloys. The 3/16 inch shank diameter matches the mill diameter, allowing direct collet or chuck clamping without adapters in most setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement solid carbide square end mill suitable for standard collet and end mill chuck setups accepting a 3/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out before tool changes. Verify collet size matches the 3/16 inch shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning a cut. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling guidelines for speed, feed, and depth-of-cut parameters appropriate to the workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use and replace the tool if edge integrity is compromised.
