The M.A. FORD 27718700N3B is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. With a mill diameter of 0.1875 inches (3/16 inch) and a 3-inch overall length, this end mill is built for extended-reach applications where standard-length tooling cannot access the cut zone. The ALtima Blaze coating provides thermal and wear resistance suited to high-speed cutting of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The variable helix (38/41 degrees) and variable index geometry reduce chatter and improve surface finish across a range of cutting conditions. Installed by machinists and CNC operators, this tool is a direct fit for 3/16-inch collets or tool holders.
The 27718700N3B is intended for use in vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual mills requiring a 3/16-inch diameter square end mill. It is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in applications where extended reach of 0.5625 inches is necessary. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle configurations. Its Series 277N designation places it within M.A. FORD's extended-reach variable-helix family, appropriate for production and toolroom environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production cutting tool for milling machines and CNC machining centers accepting a 3/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank end mill. Compatible with standard 3/16-inch collets and tool holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the machine or holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, particularly given the extended-reach geometry.
