The M.A. FORD. 277 0500B is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. With a 0.1968 inch mill diameter, a 0.5118 inch length of cut, and a 0.2362 inch shank diameter, this single-end tool is built for precision work in ferrous and exotic materials. The micrograin carbide substrate is coated with ALtima Blaze, an AlCrN-family finish that improves heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting speeds. Four flutes and a variable helix angle of 38 to 41 degrees reduce harmonic vibration and improve chip evacuation. Licensed machinists and CNC operators running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, or high-temperature alloys will find this end mill well suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes.
This end mill is designed for use on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills handling ferrous metals and high-temp alloys. The centercutting geometry allows for plunge milling as well as peripheral and slot cutting operations. Its right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration follow standard toolholder conventions, making it a direct fit for most ER and shrink-fit collet systems. The standard length designation and 6.00 mm shank diameter suit typical tool magazine setups in job shop and production environments. Primary material codes P, M, K, and S confirm suitability across carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloy workpieces.
Designed for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys as indicated by primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. Compatible with standard ER collet chucks and shrink-fit holders accepting a 0.2362 inch (6.00 mm) shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Use a torque wrench and manufacturer-specified collet nut torque values for the specific holder in use — do not overtighten or seat by feel alone. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation to protect the micrograin substrate from premature edge chipping.
