The M.A. FORD. 27260940 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine shop and production environments. Built to a 39/64 inch (0.6094 inch decimal) diameter with a tight tolerance of +0.0001/+0.0004 inches, this reamer delivers consistent, accurate bores in a single pass. The straight shank seats directly into standard drill chucks or collet holders, and the 6-flute straight geometry provides smooth cutting action on right-hand rotation. With a 4 inch overall length and a 1-3/4 inch flute length, it is suited for moderate-depth through-holes and blind holes in metalworking applications. Installation is performed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This chucking reamer is used in CNC machining centers, manual lathes, drill presses, and knee mills where a pre-drilled or bored hole requires final sizing to close dimensional tolerances. The uncoated solid carbide construction performs well in cast iron, aluminum, brass, and other non-ferrous or moderate-hardness ferrous materials. It is commonly selected for production runs where hole diameter consistency is critical and where carbide rigidity outperforms high-speed steel in terms of wear resistance and dimensional repeatability.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill chucks, ER collets, and straight-shank tool holders on CNC machining centers, manual mills, lathes, and drill presses where a 39/64 inch finished hole diameter is required.
This reamer is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals. Always pre-drill or bore the hole to the appropriate undersize before reaming, and ensure the spindle and workpiece are rigidly fixtured to prevent chatter. Power down the machine and verify the spindle is fully stopped before changing or adjusting tooling. Use an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve surface finish.
