The M.A. FORD. 27228100 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to bring bored or drilled holes to precise final diameter. It is sized to Letter K (0.2810 inches decimal), with a diameter tolerance of +0.0001/+0.0003 inches, making it suitable for applications that demand tight hole tolerances. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction provide clean, consistent stock removal in through and blind holes. At 3.25 inches overall length with a 1.125-inch flute length and a straight shank, it mounts directly in a drill chuck, collet, or machine spindle. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians use this reamer in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes.
This reamer is well suited for finish reaming operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a close-tolerance fit is required. The 6-flute configuration distributes cutting load evenly and helps produce a smooth bore finish. It fits into production and maintenance environments alike, including job shops, aerospace component work, and general precision machining. The straight shank keeps setup simple and compatible with standard toolholding. Because it is uncoated solid carbide, it performs reliably in materials where carbide hardness is needed but a specialty coating is not required.
Designed as an OEM-style precision chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks, collets, and machine spindles that accept a straight shank in the 0.2810-inch diameter range.
Chucking reamers are installed by licensed machinists or qualified toolroom personnel. Secure the straight shank firmly in the toolholder before use and verify runout before cutting. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or inspecting the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and protect bore finish quality.
