The M.A. FORD. 27227560 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining operations. Built with a straight flute geometry and a right-hand cutting direction, this reamer delivers consistent, accurate bore sizing in through-hole applications. The 7 mm (0.2756 inch) cutting diameter is held to a tight tolerance of +0.006/+0.012 mm, making it suitable for close-tolerance fits. Overall length is 3-1/4 inches (89 mm), with a 1-1/8 inch (28.50 mm) flute length. Solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance for use in harder materials and high-cycle production environments. Machinists and tool-room technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This chucking reamer is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where a straight shank can be held in a drill chuck or collet. It is suited for finish-reaming operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where hole diameter, roundness, and surface finish are critical. The 6-flute configuration supports smooth cutting action and improved surface finish at the bore wall. No coolant-through feature is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied as appropriate for the workpiece material.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide chucking reamer in the M.A. FORD. Series 272 line, suitable for use in standard straight-shank tool holders on CNC and manual machine tools.
This reamer is installed by a machinist or tool-room technician and should be held securely in a precision drill chuck or collet rated for the shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve bore finish. Do not use this reamer to remove excessive stock; pre-drill or bore the hole to near-final size before reaming.
