The M.A. FORD 27225590 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to finish-size drilled holes to precise tolerances in machine shop and production environments. Ground to a 6.5 mm (0.2559 inch) diameter with a right-hand cutting direction and six straight flutes, this reamer delivers accurate, repeatable bore geometry in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The straight shank seats directly into standard drill chucks or collets, and the uncoated carbide construction is well suited for high-precision work where dimensional control is critical. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals select this style of reamer when hole finish and sizing accuracy are the priority.
This reamer is appropriate for CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses where a chucking-style reamer is required for through-hole or blind-hole finishing. With a 3-inch overall length and a 1-inch flute length (28.50 mm), it handles typical production hole depths in the 6.00 mm to 7.00 mm diameter range. The solid carbide construction makes it especially effective in harder workpiece materials where high-speed steel tooling wears prematurely. No coolant-through capability is present, so conventional flood or mist coolant at the tool periphery is the standard approach.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank tool holders on CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses requiring a 6.5 mm finish-bore tool from the M.A. FORD Series 272 line.
Installation and use of chucking reamers should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with tooling setup and machine operation. Secure the straight shank fully in a drill chuck or collet before operation, and confirm runout is within acceptable limits to avoid bell-mouthing the bore. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or inspecting the reamer. Apply appropriate coolant or cutting fluid at the tool periphery to manage heat and chip evacuation during the reaming pass.
