The M.A. FORD 27221851 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to finish-size drilled holes to precise tolerances in metalworking and machining applications. Built to Series 272 specifications, it cuts at 0.2185 inches (decimal diameter) with a tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches over nominal, making it suitable where close-tolerance hole finishing is required. The straight, 4-flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction provide consistent chip evacuation and smooth bore surfaces. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this reamer in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes using a standard straight-cylindrical shank for direct chuck or collet mounting.
This reamer is used in precision hole-finishing operations across general machining, toolroom work, and production environments. It is sized for 7/32-inch nominal holes and is well suited to steel, aluminum, and other machinable metals where dimensional accuracy and surface finish matter. The bright, uncoated carbide is appropriate for dry cutting or light cutting fluid applications. At 3 inches overall length with a 1-inch flute length, it fits standard short-reach chuck setups without requiring extended toolholders.
Designed as an OEM-style precision tool for use in any machine spindle or drill press that accepts a straight-cylindrical shank reamer at 7/32-inch nominal diameter.
A licensed machinist or qualified toolroom technician should install and operate this reamer. Secure the shank firmly in a precision collet or drill chuck before operation, and ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped before changing tooling. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve bore finish. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine guarding requirements when operating rotary cutting tools.
