The M.A. FORD. 27221650 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to produce precise, finished bores in metal workpieces. With a 5.5 mm (0.2165 inch) reamer diameter and a reamer diameter tolerance of +0.005/+0.010 mm, this tool delivers tight, repeatable hole sizing in production and job-shop environments. The 3-inch overall length and 1-inch flute length suit compact setups and shorter-reach applications. Four straight flutes with a right-hand cutting direction provide clean material removal and consistent surface finish. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this reamer in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes where hole accuracy is critical.
This chucking reamer is suited for finishing pre-drilled or bored holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The straight shank mounts directly in a drill chuck or collet, making it a practical choice for general-purpose reaming operations in both production and maintenance machining. Its uncoated solid carbide construction makes it well-matched to applications where dimensional accuracy and tool rigidity take priority over chip-welding resistance coatings. The Series 272 designation places it within M.A. FORD.'s standard chucking reamer lineup.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in drill chucks or collet-style toolholders on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes requiring a straight-shank reamer in the 5.00 to 6.00 mm diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the straight shank firmly in a properly sized drill chuck or collet before operation, and verify runout with a dial indicator before production reaming. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or inspecting the tool. Do not use this reamer to remove excessive stock; pre-drill or bore holes to within the recommended allowance for the diameter before reaming.
