The M.A. FORD 27218850 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. With a reamer diameter of 0.1885 inches and a diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, this tool produces accurate, repeatable bores in a single pass. The straight flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it well-suited for through-hole reaming in most common workpiece materials. At 2.75 inches overall length with a 0.875-inch flute length, it fits standard drill press and CNC machining center setups. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians rely on this type of reamer for finishing drilled holes to close-tolerance specifications.
The 27218850 is used in general machining environments where hole diameter consistency and surface finish are critical. Its straight shank mounts directly into collet chucks, drill chucks, or floating reamer holders found on manual lathes, drill presses, and CNC machining centers. The 4-flute configuration balances material removal with hole finish quality across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This reamer is uncoated and does not include coolant-through capability, making it appropriate for bench machining or lower-speed applications where flood or mist coolant is applied externally.
Designed as a Series 272 chucking reamer for use in drill presses, lathes, and CNC machining centers equipped with standard collet or drill chuck toolholding; fits the 0.1500 to 0.1999-inch reamer diameter range category.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with reaming feeds, speeds, and workholding practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the workpiece is securely clamped before mounting or removing the reamer. Use appropriate cutting fluid applied externally, as this tool does not support coolant-through delivery. Do not exceed manufacturer-recommended feeds and speeds for solid carbide tooling, and inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use.
