The M.A. FORD. 27216540 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed to finish-size drilled or bored holes to tight tolerances in metal and engineered materials. Built to Series 272 standards, it features a 4.20mm (0.1654 inch) reamer diameter with a tolerance of +0.005 to +0.010mm, making it suitable for applications requiring precise hole geometry. The straight, four-flute geometry and right-hand cutting direction produce clean, consistent finishes on through and blind holes. The bright, uncoated carbide construction handles a wide range of workpiece materials without the added cost of a coating. At 70.00mm overall length with a 22.00mm flute length, it fits standard CNC and manual chucking setups.
This chucking reamer is used in machine shop and production environments where hole size accuracy is critical. It is well suited for finishing operations on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar machinable materials. The straight-cylindrical shank interfaces directly with drill chucks, collet chucks, and floating reamer holders on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turret lathes. The right-hand spiral direction and four-flute configuration provide stable cutting and efficient chip evacuation during feed-controlled reaming passes.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in any machine tool equipped with a drill chuck or collet chuck that accepts a straight-cylindrical shank of 4.20mm diameter. Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 272 reamer line.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the reamer in a rigid, concentric holder and ensure the spindle is fully stopped before tool changes. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and maintain hole finish quality. Feed rate and spindle speed should be set per standard reaming practice for the material being cut; do not use this tool as a drill.
