The M.A. FORD 27212500A is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. Built to Series 272 standards, this reamer features a 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch) diameter with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, making it suitable for applications demanding close bore accuracy. The 4-flute, right-hand cutting geometry paired with an ALtima coating provides wear resistance and consistent cutting performance. With a 2-1/4 inch overall length and a straight-cylindrical shank, it mounts directly in standard chucks and collets on CNC mills, lathes, and drill presses. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this type of reamer for final sizing of drilled or bored holes.
This reamer is intended for precision finishing operations where hole diameter tolerance and surface finish are critical. The 5/8 inch flute length accommodates typical through-hole and shallow blind-hole applications at this diameter range. The straight flute geometry is well suited for reaming previously machined holes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The ALtima coating helps extend tool life in production environments. This is a modified standard, non-returnable, non-cancelable item produced to M.A. FORD Series 272 specifications.
Designed as an OEM-specification Series 272 chucking reamer for use in standard machine tool chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.1200 inch shank diameter. Fits CNC machining centers, manual mills, lathes, and drill presses equipped with appropriate toolholding.
Chucking reamers are installed and operated by machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle and workpiece are fully secured before operation. Run at appropriate reaming speeds and feeds for the workpiece material — consult M.A. FORD cutting data recommendations for carbide reamers at this diameter. Do not attempt to use this reamer to remove excessive stock; pre-drill or bore the hole to within 0.005 to 0.010 inches of final size before reaming.
