The M.A. FORD 27212490 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metalworking and machining applications. Built to Series 272 specifications, this reamer features a 0.1249 inch cutting diameter with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance bore work where surface finish and dimensional accuracy matter. The straight flute, right-hand cutting geometry and bright uncoated carbide construction suit it for general-purpose reaming in a variety of workpiece materials. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a 5/8 inch flute length, it is compact enough for use in tight setups on manual machines, CNC machining centers, and drill presses.
This chucking reamer is intended for machinists, toolmakers, and CNC operators performing finish reaming of pre-drilled or bored holes. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.1200 inch shank diameter allows direct chuck mounting in standard collet systems, drill chucks, or toolholders. It is well suited to production and job-shop environments where consistent hole quality at the 1/8 inch diameter range is required. The solid carbide construction handles harder workpiece materials and higher cutting speeds compared to high-speed steel alternatives.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard drill chucks, ER collet systems, and similar straight-shank toolholders capable of accepting a 0.1200 inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators familiar with reaming feeds, speeds, and proper workholding. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout before cutting. Always pre-drill or bore the hole to the correct allowance before reaming — do not use a reamer to remove excessive stock. Ensure the machine spindle is brought to a complete stop before handling or measuring.
