The M.A. FORD. 27209451 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in metal components. Built to Series 272 specifications, it produces finished bores with a diameter tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0003 inches over nominal, making it well-suited for close-tolerance work. The reamer measures 0.0945 inches in diameter, with a 2-inch overall length and a straight, four-flute geometry that provides consistent chip clearance. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly in standard chucks and collets. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this reamer to bring drilled or bored holes to final dimensional specification in production and job-shop environments.
This chucking reamer is intended for finish-reaming operations in machine tools such as drill presses, lathes, and machining centers. Its 0.5-inch flute length suits shallow-to-medium depth holes in the small-diameter range. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for use in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials where coating is not required. It is typically installed by machinists and CNC operators performing precision hole-sizing tasks in manufacturing and maintenance applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for solid carbide chucking reamers in the 0.0500 to 0.0999 inch diameter range, fitting standard drill chucks and collet holders used in conventional and CNC machine tools.
Installation is performed by machinists using a standard drill chuck or precision collet rated for the shank diameter. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before securing or removing the reamer. Ensure the shank seating surface and chuck bore are clean and free of chips before clamping. Do not use this reamer as a drill; always pre-drill or bore the hole to within the recommended stock allowance before reaming to size.
