The M.A. FORD. 27207870 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in tight-tolerance machining applications. With a 2 mm (0.0787 inch) diameter and a diameter tolerance of +0.004/+0.008 mm, this reamer delivers the close-fit accuracy required for dowel pin holes, bearing bores, and similar precision features. The 4-flute, straight-flute geometry produces a smooth finish on the bore wall and provides predictable chip evacuation. The straight shank mounts directly into a standard chuck or collet on a drill press, CNC machining center, or manual mill. This is an uncoated tool suited for use in a range of materials where carbide rigidity provides an advantage over HSS.
This reamer is intended for light-duty, close-tolerance reaming operations in production and job-shop environments. At 1-3/4 inches overall length with a 1/2-inch flute length, it is sized for shallow-hole applications. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral configuration is standard for through-hole and blind-hole finishing passes. Machinists and toolmakers working with small-diameter precision bores will find this tool appropriate for aluminum, brass, plastics, and softer ferrous materials where solid carbide provides dimensional stability and wear resistance.
Designed as a standard chucking reamer for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and manual milling machines equipped with a chuck or collet capable of holding a straight shank in the applicable diameter range.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolmaker. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before mounting or removing the reamer from the chuck or collet. Use the correct collet size or chuck jaw setting to ensure concentricity and prevent runout, which directly affects bore tolerance. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and applicable shop safety guidelines for cutting speeds and feed rates appropriate to the workpiece material and tool diameter.
