The M.A. FORD 22949210 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in non-ferrous metal applications. It measures 12.5 mm (0.4921 inches) in diameter with a 124 mm overall length and a 77 mm flute length. The three-flute parabolic design promotes efficient chip evacuation, reducing heat buildup and improving feed rates in demanding production environments. A 150-degree drill point angle and web-thinned, tapered web configuration minimize entry force and improve hole accuracy. This bit is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with CNC and manual drilling equipment.
This drill bit is suited for drilling non-ferrous metals including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. The Series 229 parabolic flute geometry makes it a strong fit for deep-hole applications where chip packing is a concern. With a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 60 mm, it performs reliably in medium-to-deep hole operations on production floors and job shops. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 14 mm diameter seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines tooled for straight-cylindrical shank bits. Primary workpiece materials are classified as non-ferrous metals per DIN 6537 L designation codes N and O. No coolant-through capability; external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Ensure the chuck or collet is properly sized for the 14 mm shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable tolerance before drilling. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to breakage from lateral loading or interrupted cuts; avoid side pressure during drilling. Follow the machine manufacturer and applicable shop safety standards for RPM, feed rate setup, and chip clearance intervals.
