The M.A. FORD 22940620 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. Built to Series 229 specifications, it features a 150-degree drill point angle with a web-thinned, tapered web configuration that reduces entry force and improves chip evacuation. The three-flute parabolic flute geometry, sized at a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, promotes fast chip clearing in deep-hole applications. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for carbide tooling used in non-ferrous stock. This bit is specified by machinists, tool-room technicians, and precision fabricators working with aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials.
The 22940620 is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual milling operations targeting non-ferrous metals. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER collets and drill chucks without adapter modification. Its jobber-length profile makes it appropriate for general through-hole and blind-hole applications where a stubby or extended-reach bit is not required. The maximum drilling depth of 2 inches and 5/32 inches limits its use to workpieces within that range without pecking cycles or repositioning.

Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and ER collet systems accepting a 13/32 inches shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the spindle fully stopped and power isolated from the machine. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank to the specified collet or chuck torque per machine manufacturer guidelines before starting the spindle. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; apply cutting fluid externally when required by the workpiece material. Inspect runout at setup, as solid carbide is more brittle than HSS and is susceptible to chipping if shank seating is off-axis.
