The M.A. FORD. 22931500 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. Sized at 8 mm (0.3150 inches) in diameter, it features a 150-degree point angle for aggressive entry and reduced thrust, a three-flute parabolic geometry for efficient chip evacuation, and a bright uncoated finish suited to clean, non-ferrous applications. Overall length is 91 mm (3.58 inches) with a flute length of 53 mm (2.09 inches). The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly in standard chucks. This bit is installed by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance trades working on CNC machining centers or manual drill presses.
This drill bit is rated for primary use in non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, copper, brass, and similar workpiece materials classified under material code N and O. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and parabolic flute design allow drilling to a maximum depth of 43 mm (1.69 inches) per pass without packing chips. Web-thinned, tapered-web construction reduces the chisel edge load at entry. It is suited to both production and repair applications where consistent hole tolerance and clean exit geometry are required. No coolant-through feature is present, so conventional flood or mist coolant is applied externally.
Designed for use in non-ferrous metal workpieces (material codes N and O) including aluminum, copper, and brass alloys. Fits any standard drill chuck or collet accepting an 8 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Conforms to DIN 6537 L for jobber-length carbide drills.
Install in a rigid, runout-minimized chuck or precision collet holder to protect the carbide shank from chipping under lateral load. Secure the workpiece before drilling and confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the specific non-ferrous material being drilled. Carbide tooling is brittle and should never be used in a hand-held drill. Apply external flood or mist coolant at the cutting zone, as this series does not include coolant-through capability.
