The M.A. FORD. 22928740 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. It measures 7.3 mm (0.2874 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 91 mm and a flute length of 53 mm. The 150-degree drill point reduces thrust and improves centering on entry, while the parabolic flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. The bright, uncoated carbide surface is suited for applications where coating compatibility with the workpiece material is a consideration. This bit is installed and used by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and precision fabricators.
This drill bit is intended for use in non-ferrous metal applications, including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials classified under primary workpiece material code N and O. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and web-thinned, tapered web construction support deeper cutting passes with reduced walking and deflection. The straight-cylindrical shank with an 8 mm shank diameter fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses where precision and repeatability are required.
Designed for drilling non-ferrous metals (material codes N and O) per DIN 6537 L specification. Fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting an 8 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 229 drill bit family covering the 7.00 mm to 8.00 mm diameter range.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling professionals familiar with carbide cutting tools. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck are fully stopped and locked out before securing or removing the bit. Carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side loading or impact that can cause chipping. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and bit diameter before beginning a cut.
