The M.A. FORD 22916600 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit sized to wire gauge No. 19 (0.1660 inches decimal). It features a 150-degree split point, a parabolic flute geometry, and a web-thinned tapered web for reduced thrust and improved chip evacuation. The bright uncoated carbide construction suits high-performance drilling in non-ferrous metals and other demanding materials. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a flute length of 1.375 inches and a maximum drilling depth of 1.031 inches. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.1660 inches diameter mounts directly in standard drill chucks or collet holders. This bit is a Series 229 tool designed for use by machinists and metalworking trades in production and job-shop environments.
This drill bit is intended for use in non-ferrous metal applications including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials coded N and O in the M.A. FORD workpiece material classification. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and parabolic flute design support deep-hole chip clearing in both manual and CNC drilling operations. It is sold individually and is suited for general-purpose jobber-length drilling where tight diameter tolerance and carbide hardness are required. No coolant-through feature is present, making it compatible with flood coolant or dry cutting setups on standard spindles.
Designed as a Series 229 jobber-length drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held drilling equipment with standard straight-shank collets or keyless chucks accepting a 0.1660-inch shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or metalworking technician. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Do not use this bit on ferrous materials outside its rated workpiece material classification, as carbide is brittle and can fracture under unexpected lateral loading.
