The M.A. FORD 22635430 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding shop and production environments. Built to DIN 6539 specification, it features a 118-degree faceted point angle with web thinning for improved penetration and reduced thrust. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 9.00 mm (0.3543 inches) in diameter, and the overall length is 84.00 mm (3.3071 inches). The bright/uncoated finish keeps the carbide substrate exposed for applications where coating buildup or heat interference is a concern. Right-hand cut with a regular spiral flute, this bit is sized for screw machine and stub-length drilling where rigidity and hole accuracy are critical. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling operators are the primary users.
The 22635430 is suited for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and plastics in both manual and CNC machining setups. Its screw machine length profile provides added stiffness compared to jobber-length bits, making it well-suited for short, precise holes where deflection must be minimized. The 9.00 mm diameter and 40.00 mm flute length fit common screw machine, drill press, and machining center toolholders using straight-shank collets or drill chucks. This bit falls within the Series 226 product family and conforms to DIN 6539 dimensional standards.
Designed for use in screw machines, drill presses, and CNC machining centers accepting straight-shank drill bits in the 0.3500 to 0.4000 inch (8.00 to 9.50 mm) diameter range. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and plastics.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank firmly in a properly sized collet or drill chuck to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping procedure. Solid carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts beyond the bit's rated capacity, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces, as chipping or fracture can result.
