The M.A. FORD. 22625590 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built to DIN 6539 specification, this short-length bit measures 0.2559 inches (6.50 mm) in diameter with an overall length of 2.7559 inches (70.00 mm). The 118-degree faceted drill point paired with a web-thinned, parallel web configuration reduces entry thrust and improves chip clearing on hard materials. The bright/uncoated finish makes it well-suited for non-ferrous metals where coating adhesion or heat are not concerns. Two spiral flutes with a 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio evacuate chips efficiently during short, high-precision drilling operations. This bit is installed by machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians.
This drill bit is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where screw machine length geometry provides added rigidity and reduced runout. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.2559 inches in diameter and 1.5354 inches in length, making it compatible with standard collet chucks and drill chucks in that bore range. The right-hand cut and regular spiral flute type suit general-purpose production drilling and maintenance applications where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.2559-inch shank diameter. Suitable for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel workpieces per manufacturer specification.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully secured before engaging the drill. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be subjected to side loads, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed rates, or improper chuck grip. Inspect the shank seating and runout before production use to avoid premature tool failure.
