The M.A. FORD 22425980A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding materials. It features an 118-degree facet point with web thinning for improved centering and reduced thrust force at entry. The ALtima (AlTiN) coating provides high heat resistance and extended tool life when running at elevated speeds and feeds. At 101.00 mm overall length with a 63.00 mm flute length, this drill follows DIN 338 geometry with a straight cylindrical shank. It is installed by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and metalworking tradespeople working in production or maintenance environments.
This drill is engineered for general-purpose drilling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The 2-flute regular spiral design promotes efficient chip evacuation in these materials. It is well-suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual equipment where a straight-shank, full-carbide tool is required. The Series 224 designation places it in M.A. FORD's general-purpose carbide jobber line conforming to DIN 338 and produced under ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing conditions.
Designed as a general-purpose OEM-style jobber drill for use in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. Primary workpiece material codes K, M, N, and P are supported per manufacturer specification. Fits any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 6.60 mm straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and setup should be performed by qualified machinists following shop safety procedures. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized chuck or collet and verify runout before operation. Do not exceed the recommended surface footage for carbide in the workpiece material being drilled; consult the manufacturer feed-and-speed chart for this series. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as solid carbide is brittle and sensitive to interrupted cuts and side loading.
