The M.A. FORD 22416540A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding production and maintenance environments. Measuring 4.20 mm in diameter with a 118-degree facet point, it features a right-hand, regular spiral flute geometry and a web-thinned tip for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The bit is coated with ALtima, M.A. FORD's proprietary aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) finish, which extends tool life in high-heat cutting applications. Overall length is 75.00 mm with a flute length of 43.00 mm. This drill is intended for installation and use by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and maintenance professionals working with CNC or manual drilling equipment.
This drill bit is engineered for general-purpose drilling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron - material codes K, M, N, and P in standard classification. It conforms to DIN 338 specification and is manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 certified quality standards. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and two-flute configuration support consistent chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications at typical production feed and speed rates for carbide tooling.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill compatible with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held drilling equipment accepting a 4.2 mm straight shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, and cast iron per DIN 338 Series 224 classification. No coolant-through capability; suited for external coolant or dry cutting setups.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians with the machine in a de-energized and locked-out state per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and centered in the chuck or collet before tightening. Do not exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for solid carbide tooling in the specified workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use; discard or regrind the bit if chipping or excessive wear is observed.
