The M.A. FORD. 22405710C is a jobber length drill bit engineered for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Built from solid carbide and finished with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and reduced friction when cutting through hard or abrasive materials. It measures 1.45 mm in diameter with an overall length of 40 mm (1.5748 inches) and a flute length of 18 mm (0.7087 inches). The 118-degree faceted point with web thinning promotes accurate entry and reduces the axial force needed to initiate a cut. This bit is installed and run by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and precision fabricators working with CNC or manual drill equipment.
The 22405710C is suited for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel in both production and job-shop environments. Its regular spiral flute geometry and 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio make it appropriate for general-purpose through-hole drilling in materials where tool wear is a consistent concern. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard collets and drill chucks without adapter hardware.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit per DIN 338 specifications, suitable for use in any standard drill chuck or collet system accepting a 1.45 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel workpiece materials (material codes K, M, N, P).
Installation of this bit should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in the collet or chuck before running the spindle, and confirm runout is within tolerance, as carbide is brittle and sensitive to lateral load at this diameter. Do not use excessive feed pressure; let the geometry and coating do the work. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit, so appropriate external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling stainless steel or hardened materials.
