The M.A. FORD. 20531500T is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for demanding material removal in cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and steel. Built from solid carbide with a coated finish, it delivers the hardness and wear resistance needed for high-cycle production drilling. The bit measures 0.315 inches in diameter with a 135-degree split point that reduces walking on entry and minimizes thrust load. Overall length is 2.7953 inches, making it a compact, rigid tool suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines where tool stick-out must be kept short. It is installed and used by machinists and manufacturing maintenance professionals.
This drill bit is a strong fit for production shops working with ferrous and non-ferrous stock, including stainless steel and cast iron components. The screw machine length body provides enhanced rigidity compared to jobber-length bits, reducing deflection on interrupted cuts and in cross-drilled hole applications. It carries a Series 205 designation and a flute-to-diameter ratio of 3xD, which suits shallow-to-moderate depth holes in tight-tolerance work. The right-hand cut and slow spiral flute geometry help control chip evacuation in materials that generate long, stringy chips.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, manual drill presses, and screw machines with standard straight-shank tool holding. Suitable for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel.
Install and remove this bit only while the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per applicable machine guarding and lockout/tagout procedures. Solid carbide tooling is brittle and should be seated firmly and concentrically in the chuck or collet to prevent runout-induced chipping. Confirm correct spindle speed and feed rate for the workpiece material before beginning the cut. Do not use coolant-through fixtures, as this bit does not support coolant through the body.
