The M.A. FORD 20513600 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. With a 0.136 inch (wire size #29) diameter and a 135-degree split point, this bit delivers accurate starts and clean entry holes without a center punch. The web-thinned point reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. At 1.9375 inches overall length with a 0.9375 inch flute length, this short-length geometry provides rigidity and reduced deflection in tight setups. It is intended for use by machinists, tool and die professionals, and maintenance technicians working in production or repair environments.
This drill bit is suited for drilling cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. The screw machine length format makes it well matched for drill press, CNC, and manual lathe or mill operations where stub-length rigidity is preferred over jobber-length reach. The slow spiral flute geometry and bright uncoated finish make it a practical choice for stainless steel and cast iron where heat management and chip control are critical. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for drill presses, CNC machining centers, manual mills, and lathes accepting straight-cylindrical shank drill bits in the 0.136 inch diameter range. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians with the machine powered down and all energy sources locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is torqued to machine specifications before operation. Use appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material, particularly when drilling stainless steel, to manage heat buildup. Do not use this bit at spindle speeds or feeds outside the range recommended for solid carbide tooling in the applicable material.
