The M.A. FORD. 20511810T is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for precision hole-making in tight setups and short-stroke drilling applications. Built from solid carbide with a coated finish, it delivers the hardness and wear resistance needed for demanding materials. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and lowers thrust force at entry, making it well suited for production drilling where consistency matters. At 0.1181 inches (3.00 mm) in diameter with a right-hand spiral flute and a slow spiral geometry, this bit controls chip evacuation while maintaining rigidity in the cut. Licensed tradespeople and machining professionals use it where a stub-length tool provides the clearance and stability that jobber-length bits cannot.
This drill bit is designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines working with cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. The screw machine (stub) length body - 1.8898 inches overall - keeps the bit stiff in short-reach setups, reducing deflection and improving hole location accuracy. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.1181 inches diameter fits standard chucks and collets without modification. A web-thinned, parallel-web configuration paired with the split point keeps entry clean across a range of workpiece materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment for screw machine length drill bit applications in CNC and manual machining operations targeting cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Part of the M.A. FORD. Series 205 product line.
Machinists and toolroom professionals should secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully in a calibrated chuck or collet before operation. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and drill diameter before engaging the cut. Solid carbide tooling is brittle - avoid side-loading or interrupted cuts that exceed the bit geometry design. Inspect the cutting edges and point condition before each use; damaged carbide should not be run.
