The M.A. FORD 20505110 is a solid carbide screw machine length drill bit with a 0.0511 inch (1.30 mm) diameter and a 135-degree split point. Screw machine length drills are shorter than jobber-length bits, which improves rigidity and reduces deflection in close-tolerance drilling applications. The bright, uncoated carbide construction delivers excellent hardness and heat resistance without a coating that could alter the cutting edge geometry. Web thinning reduces thrust force at the cutting tip. This bit is suited for machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators working with small-diameter holes in hard materials.
This drill bit is designed for use on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. The slow spiral flute design and right-hand cut make it well suited for drilling tough, stringy, or work-hardening materials where chip evacuation and heat control are critical. Its short overall length of 1.6142 inches and straight-cylindrical shank allow use in standard drill chucks, collets, and CNC toolholders. Typical applications include production drilling, precision machining, and toolroom work where hole location accuracy and drill longevity are priorities.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks, ER collets, and CNC toolholders accepting a 0.0511 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel, per Series 205 design specifications.
This bit is installed and changed by machinists or CNC operators following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the spindle is powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the drill bit from any holder. Verify collet or chuck runout before use, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on small-diameter carbide tooling. Carbide is brittle - avoid impact or side-loading, and store individually to prevent chipping the cutting edges.
