The M.A. FORD 20437500 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Ground to a 118-degree faceted point with web thinning, it delivers clean entry and reduced thrust across a range of workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. The bright uncoated carbide construction provides a 3/8-inch cutting diameter held to a tight tolerance of -0.0005 to 0.0000 inches, making it well-suited for precision hole-making in production and maintenance environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and industrial maintenance pros are the primary users of this Series 204 bit.
This drill bit is built for general purpose applications in metalworking shops, manufacturing facilities, and industrial maintenance settings. The 2-flute spiral design with a regular spiral type and tapered web configuration handles a 5xD flute-by-diameter ratio, giving it the reach and chip-clearing geometry typical of jobber-length tooling. It is appropriate for drilling cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, and non-ferrous metals in both manual and CNC-guided operations where solid carbide substrate is required over high-speed steel alternatives.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and CNC spindles accepting a 3/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel per M.A. FORD Series 204 application data.
Installation and use should be performed by machinists or qualified technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Carbide drill bits are brittle compared to high-speed steel and require rigid setups with minimal runout to avoid chipping or fracture. Power down the spindle fully before seating or removing the bit from the chuck. Do not use this bit for interrupted cuts or on hardened materials beyond the rated workpiece grades without verifying suitability with the manufacturer.
