The M.A. FORD. 20428120 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit with a 9/32 inch (0.2812 inch) diameter and a 118-degree faceted point angle. It features a regular spiral flute, a web-thinned tapered web configuration, and a bright uncoated finish. The overall length is 3-1/2 inches with a 2-1/8 inch flute length and a straight-cylindrical shank. Designed for general-purpose drilling in demanding materials, this bit is suited for machinists, metalworking shops, and trade professionals working with cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon steel. The right-hand cut geometry and solid carbide construction deliver consistent hole quality across a wide range of workpiece materials.
This drill bit is intended for use in drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held power drills where a standard jobber length reach is appropriate. Its Series 204 classification places it in a general-purpose carbide line capable of handling cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and steel. With a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, it is well suited for through-hole drilling applications in production and maintenance environments. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or cutting fluid is recommended when drilling stainless or hardened steels.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber length drill bit for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a 9/32 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling and confirm the chuck is tightened to the shank diameter. External cutting fluid or coolant is recommended for stainless steel and cast iron to prevent overheating. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if chipping or wear is detected.
