The M.A. FORD 20422100 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precise, repeatable hole-making in demanding materials. Ground to a 118-degree faceted point with web thinning, it cuts cleanly without excessive feed pressure. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.2210 inches in diameter, matching the No. 2 wire gauge drill size at 0.2210 inches. Overall length is 3.0 inches with a 1.75-inch flute length. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the substrate carbide exposed for inspection and regrinding. This bit is built for general-purpose production drilling and is sold individually.
This drill bit is suited for ferrous and non-ferrous applications including cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, and non-ferrous metals, covering ISO workpiece material codes K, M, N, and P. The regular spiral, two-flute design with a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio handles chip evacuation efficiently in through-hole and short-blind-hole work. Typical install scenarios include machine shop production, maintenance and repair operations, and fabrication environments where a solid carbide tool is required over high-speed steel for harder or abrasive materials.
Designed as a general-purpose solid carbide jobber drill for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.2210-inch straight-cylindrical shank, compatible with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power drills with sufficient RPM capability for carbide tooling.
Solid carbide drill bits must be run at speeds and feeds appropriate for carbide tooling - running them at high-speed steel parameters risks chipping or fracture. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the application before operation. Inspect the point and flutes for chipping before each use; carbide is brittle and should not be used in hand-held drilling where lateral loading is uncontrolled. Coolant-through is not supported on this bit; use external cutting fluid where the workpiece material requires it.
