The M.A. FORD. 20410150A is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. Ground to a No. 38 wire gauge size (0.1015 inches decimal), it features a 118-degree, 4-facet split point that improves self-centering and reduces walking on entry. The ALtima AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating provides high heat resistance and extends tool life in abrasive cutting conditions. Overall length is 2.25 inches with a 1.25-inch flute length. The straight cylindrical shank and regular right-hand spiral flute geometry make it compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC toolholders. Manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 certified processes.
This drill is suited for general-purpose production drilling in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes. Typical applications include fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and CNC machining centers where small-diameter, close-tolerance holes are required. The web-thinned point reduces thrust force at entry, which is especially useful when drilling work-hardened stainless steel or tight-tolerance components. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators are the primary users of this bit in both manual and automated drilling setups.
Designed as a general-purpose jobber drill for use in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. Compatible with any standard drill chuck or collet accepting a 0.1015-inch straight shank, in both manual drill presses and CNC machining centers.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before inserting or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify chuck runout is within acceptable limits before use, as excessive runout accelerates wear on small-diameter solid carbide tools. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool; external coolant or cutting fluid is recommended when drilling stainless steel or cast iron.
