The M.A. FORD. 20406250 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding materials. Built to Series 204 specifications, it features a 118-degree faceted point angle with web thinning for reduced thrust and cleaner entry. The bright uncoated carbide construction delivers excellent hardness and heat resistance without a coating that could mask wear. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 0.75 inch flute length, this compact bit is suited for controlled, short-run drilling operations. Machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance technicians working with hard or abrasive materials are the primary users.
This drill bit is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. The right-hand spiral flute with regular helix geometry promotes chip evacuation in these materials. It is a general-purpose bit appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual operations where a 1/16 inch diameter hole is required. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collets sized for 1/16 inch shanks. It is not equipped for coolant-through delivery, so external or flood cooling should be used when drilling stainless steel or other heat-sensitive alloys.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production drill bit for applications requiring a 1/16 inch diameter hole in cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, or steel workpieces, consistent with Series 204 tooling specifications.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation, and verify runout before beginning a cut. Because carbide is brittle, avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed reduction, or dropping the bit. External coolant or cutting fluid is recommended when drilling stainless steel or steel to manage heat at the cutting edge.
