The M.A. FORD 20402100 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding materials. It carries a wire gauge size of No. 75, which corresponds to a decimal diameter of 0.0210 inches. The drill features a 118-degree faceted point, a regular spiral flute, and a straight-cylindrical shank of the same 0.0210-inch diameter. Overall length is 1.5 inches with a flute length of 0.25 inches, yielding a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio. Web-thinned geometry reduces thrust force at entry. This is a general-purpose bit suited for production and toolroom environments where tight tolerances and hard or abrasive workpiece materials demand carbide over high-speed steel.
This bit is rated for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and carbon and alloy steel. Its solid carbide construction and bright uncoated finish make it a practical choice for short-run and high-precision operations where regrinding or re-coating is not required. Typical applications include jig drilling, fixture work, and close-tolerance hole placement in machining centers, CNC mills, and bench drill presses. Right-hand cut geometry matches standard spindle rotation on conventional equipment. The Series 204 designation identifies it within M.A. FORD's general-purpose carbide jobber line.
Designed for use in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel workpieces. Straight-cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collets accepting 0.0210-inch shank diameter. Compatible with CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses with right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians using standard drill chucks or collet systems. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Carbide is brittle - avoid side loading or interrupted cuts that exceed the bit geometry rating. Consult machine manufacturer feeds-and-speeds guidelines for the specific workpiece material before use.
