The M.A. FORD. 200S37500A is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate, centered starting points for twist drills, reamers, and boring tools. With a 145-degree point angle, the tool produces a shallow, precise cone seat that reduces drill wander and improves hole location accuracy on a wide range of workpiece materials. The 3/8-inch cutting diameter and matching 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems. An AlTiN coating extends tool life by improving heat resistance and reducing friction at the cutting edge. This is a single-ended, two-flute design with straight flutes and a 1-inch flute length.
The 200S37500A is a general-purpose spotting drill suited for machining centers, drill presses, and CNC lathes operating in job shop, production, and tool room environments. It performs across common workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys. The 2.5-inch overall length accommodates standard toolholding setups without excessive overhang. Machinists and toolroom operators working in manufacturing, aerospace component shops, and general metalworking will find this tool appropriate for everyday hole-starting operations where positional accuracy is critical.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills with toolholding systems that accept a 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank fully in the toolholder and verify runout before cutting. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed and feed rate based on workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tools are brittle and susceptible to breakage under interrupted cuts or improper clamping.
