The M.A. FORD. 20056250 is a solid carbide die drill bit designed for precision holemaking in demanding materials. It features a 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) diameter with a 135-degree split point that reduces walking and cutting force at entry. The straight-flute geometry suits through-hole and short-hole drilling applications where chip evacuation is managed by the operator or coolant flow. At 3.5 inches overall length with a 1.125 inch flute, this bit is built for compact drilling setups. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and precision fabricators working in high-hardness or difficult-to-machine materials reach for this bit when standard HSS tooling falls short.
This drill bit is suited for use on cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, hardened materials, high-temperature alloys, titanium, ceramic, and glass. It is a strong fit for tool and die work, mold making, and precision part manufacturing where tight hole tolerances and material hardness demand solid carbide construction. The right-hand cutting direction and web-thinned point make it compatible with standard CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills operating within appropriate feeds and speeds for carbide tooling.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metal, stainless steel, and steel (material codes H, K, M, N, P, S). Installation and use of carbide drill bits should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement that can chip or fracture the carbide. Do not use this bit in hammer-drill or percussion mode. Carbide tooling requires appropriate spindle speeds and feed rates for the workpiece material - consult published carbide feeds and speeds charts before use. Coolant through is not supported on this bit; apply external coolant or cutting fluid as appropriate for the material.
