The M.A. FORD 20031250 is a solid carbide, straight-flute die drill bit engineered for precision holemaking in demanding materials. It carries a 5/16-inch diameter with a 135-degree split point and web-thinned geometry that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation on entry. The uncoated carbide construction delivers hardness and thermal resistance needed when drilling cast iron, stainless steel, steel, and non-ferrous metals. With an overall length of 2.5 inches and a 0.75-inch flute, this short, rigid form factor is well suited to die work, fixture drilling, and close-tolerance applications where runout and deflection must be minimized. Designed as an OEM-style holemaking tool for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills accepting a 5/16-inch straight shank. Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the spindle speed appropriate to the workpiece material and bit diameter before starting the cut. Carbide is brittle and susceptible to fracture from side loading, improper runout, or impact - do not use in a loose or worn chuck. Coolant through is not supported on this tool; apply external coolant or cutting fluid as required by the workpiece material.
