The M.A. FORD. 20020000 is a 7-piece solid carbide screw machine length drill bit set designed for metalworking and multipurpose drilling applications. Built on the Series 200 platform, this set covers seven fractional inch sizes from 1/16 inch through 1/4 inch in 1/32-inch step increments. The 135-degree split point reduces walking and allows clean entry without a center punch in most setups. Solid carbide construction provides significantly higher hardness and heat resistance compared to high-speed steel, making it well suited for production environments where extended tool life and dimensional consistency are required. The bright, uncoated finish is compatible with a wide range of cutting fluids and dry cutting conditions.
This set is intended for metalworking professionals and machinists performing drilling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Screw machine length geometry means a shorter flute and overall length than jobber-length bits, which improves rigidity and reduces deflection in close-tolerance applications such as production drilling, jig work, and CNC or manual drill press operations. The straight shank suits standard drill chucks across a range of machine types. The included plastic storage case keeps the set organized and protects cutting edges between uses.
Designed for use in metalworking and multipurpose drilling applications; straight shank fits standard drill chucks on manual drill presses, CNC machining centers, and hand-held drill motors capable of accepting the included bit sizes up to 1/4 inch.
Installation of drill bits should be performed by qualified machinists or tool operators following standard machine shop safety procedures. Ensure the machine is fully powered down and the spindle has stopped completely before changing bits. Verify chuck jaws are clean and undamaged before seating the shank to ensure concentricity. Solid carbide is brittle compared to high-speed steel and can chip if subjected to side loads or shock contact, so handle and store bits carefully.
