The M.A. FORD 20015900 is a solid carbide, straight-flute die drill bit designed for precision holemaking in demanding metalworking applications. With a cutting diameter of 0.1590 inches (No. 21 wire size) and a 135-degree split point, this bit enters material cleanly and reduces walking without a center punch. The uncoated carbide construction delivers consistent performance across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. At 2.0 inches overall length with a 0.625-inch flute, it is built for tight-clearance work in toolrooms, die shops, and production machining environments. It is installed by machinists, tool and die makers, and precision drilling professionals.
This drill bit is suited for holemaking operations in cast iron, steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, austenitic stainless steel, titanium, high-temperature alloys, hardened materials, ceramics, and glass. The straight-flute geometry makes it particularly effective in die work and applications where chip evacuation through flute geometry must be controlled. The right-hand cutting direction and web-thinned point reduce thrust load, which is critical when drilling brittle or hard materials at tight tolerances.
Designed for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.1590-inch shank diameter. Suitable for holemaking in cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, alloy steel, titanium, high-temperature alloys, hardened materials, ceramics, and glass per M.A. FORD Series 200 specifications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tool and die professionals familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the spindle speed appropriate to the workpiece material and bit diameter. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper setup, or drop impacts that can chip the cutting edge. Ensure the machine spindle and workholding are properly trued before drilling to maintain the stated diameter tolerance.
