The M.A. FORD 20011000 is a solid carbide, straight-flute die drill bit designed for precision holemaking in hard and demanding workpiece materials. It carries a 0.1100-inch diameter, a 135-degree split point for self-centering entry, and a web-thinned geometry that reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. The uncoated carbide construction delivers consistent dimensional accuracy with a diameter tolerance of +0.0000 to -0.0005 inches. At 1.5 inches overall length with a 0.625-inch flute, this bit is suited to close-tolerance drilling applications where repeatability and tool life in difficult materials are critical priorities. It is installed by machinists, toolroom technicians, and precision metalworking professionals.
This drill bit is intended for holemaking in a broad range of primary workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and steel. Secondary material suitability extends to alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, hardened materials, high-temperature alloys, titanium, glass, and ceramic. The straight-flute configuration and split point make it well suited to die work, mold work, and any application where a standard jobber-length bit cannot access the feature or where the short flute length provides added rigidity in a deep-hole setup.

This drill bit is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in drill presses, CNC machining centers, or hand-held precision drilling fixtures. Secure the shank fully in a collet or drill chuck rated for the shank diameter before operation, and verify spindle runout is within acceptable tolerance for small-diameter carbide tooling. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing tooling. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side-loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed rate adjustment, and dropping or impacting the cutting edge.
