The M.A. FORD 180L5004B is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. Built on the Series 180 platform, it features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and 7 flutes with a super close pitch - a configuration that reduces chatter and improves surface finish at elevated feed rates. The tool is coated with M.A. FORD ALtima Blaze, a PVD-applied coating designed to extend tool life and maintain edge integrity in abrasive, high-temperature cutting environments. The overall length is 4 inches with a 2 inch length of cut. Installation and use are performed by machinists and CNC tooling professionals working in precision machining environments.
This end mill is intended for finishing passes in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting geometry suit standard CNC milling setups. The stub length type and 2 inch reach length make it well suited for pockets and profiles where rigidity is critical and deflection must be minimized. The single-end, straight cylindrical shank fits standard toolholders used on vertical and horizontal machining centers. A chipbreaker geometry is incorporated to aid chip evacuation in deep or semi-confined cuts.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical-bore toolholders on CNC milling machines. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit holders sized for a 1/2 inch shank diameter.
This tool is installed and set up by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the tool from any toolholder. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting cycle. Do not use this end mill as a center-cutting plunge tool - centercutting is not supported by this geometry.
