The M.A. FORD. 18062518B is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for finishing operations in demanding metal-cutting applications. It measures 5/8 inches in diameter with a 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch) corner radius and features 7 flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration with a medium, 38-degree helix angle. The tool carries an ALtima Blaze PVD coating, which is engineered for extended tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It is a single-end, straight-cylindrical shank tool in the M.A. FORD. Series 180 short-length format. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and precision manufacturing environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is intended for finishing cuts in ferrous and high-performance alloy workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Its super-close pitch, 7-flute geometry reduces chip load per tooth, making it well suited for light axial depths and tight surface finish requirements. The short overall length of 3-1/2 inches and 1-1/4 inch length of cut support rigid setups in vertical machining centers and similar CNC platforms. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard toolholders used in production machining environments.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Not designed for centercutting or plunge operations.
This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers on milling machines or machining centers. Before changing or seating the tool, ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Verify the toolholder bore and collet are clean and free of chips before seating the shank to maintain runout tolerances. Confirm feed rates, spindle speeds, and axial depths of cut match the manufacturer recommendations for the specific workpiece material and do not exceed finishing-pass parameters for a 7-flute geometry.
